How to Reach
By Air

There’s no airport within Coorg itself. The nearest major airport is Mangalore International Airport, around 120–165 km away, depending on the route taken. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Somwarpet town and then proceed toward Mallalli Falls.

Other viable airports include Mysore Airport (domestic) and Kannur International Airport, both about 120–140 km from Coorg, but Mangalore is generally considered the closest for interstate travel.

By Train

Coorg doesn’t have its own railway station. The nearest railheads are:

Mysore Junction – roughly 90–130 km from the falls.

Hassan Railway Station – approximately 75 km away.

From either station, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Somwarpet, then continue by local transport or private vehicle toward the falls.

By Road

Mallalli Falls is well-connected by road. It’s about:

25–26 km from Somwarpet town.

42 km from Kushalnagar and around 55–60 km from Madikeri, the district headquarters.

The drive itself is beautiful, taking you through winding ghats, coffee plantations, forests, and small villages. From the nearest parking area, expect to walk a short but steep trek (roughly 2–3 km) to reach the waterfall, with some steps and uneven terrain on the final stretch.

Trekking & Safety

To reach the best vantage points at the falls, visitors must trek down a forest trail that involves hundreds of steps and uneven ground. Good hiking shoes, water, and basic first-aid are essential. During the monsoon, the trail can be slippery, and leeches may be present, so extra caution is advised.
